2BABA BECOMES FIRST NIGERIAN ARTISTE TO RECEIVE AN HONORARY DEGREE FROM AN INDIGENOUS UNIVERSITY
Nigerian music icon, Innocent Ujah Idibia, also known as 2Baba, has been conferred with an honorary degree by Igbinedion University, Okada, becoming the first Nigerian artiste to receive that honour from an indigenous university.
2Baba received the honour on Tuesday, 9 May, 2016 at The University Main Auditorium, Okada during the university’s 17th Founder’s Day Ceremony, which saw an overwhelming attendance – the auditorium was filled to maximum capacity. Special appearances were made by Prof. Sir. Victor Uwaifo and popular comedian Maleke.
The master’s degree was presented to 2Baba by the former governor of Edo state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, who is also the deputy vice Chancellor of the University.
2Baba’s wife, Annie Idibia, was also present to witness the historic conferment and was all smiles as she accompanied her husband to receive his honorary degree. Earlier, upon their arrival in Edo state, they paid a courtesy visit to the Esama and founder of the university, Sir Chief Dr G.O Igbinedion.
With this latest achievement, 2Baba continues his astonishing momentum in 2016. Having already released three singles and bagged several endorsements, he recently announced that he will be headlining the Lagos leg of “Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless: The Disruption” this year. He also announced a competition that would see him take some fans on a weeklong trip to Nairobi, Kenya. His latest single titled ‘Oya Come Make We Go’ features fellow Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless headliners, Sauti Sol, and was released last month and has been getting rave reviews from fans and music aficionados.
