FIFA Officials, Messi, Platini Named In #PanamaPapers


Suspended boss of UEFA, Michel Platini as well as several other FIFA officials implicated in the corruption scandal at the football governing body are among those named in today’s #PanamaPapers leak.

The Panama Papers leak exposed the activities of several individuals who evade taxes by setting up offshore companies as fronts. Barcelona star, Lionel Messi who has been investigated severally for tax evasion has also been named in the investigative report by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung and other media outlets.

The 11 million leaked records from the files of Mossack Fonseca reportedly contains the names of at least 20 high profile footballers.
