Nigerian Government Covered Up The Kidnap Of 500 People In Borno – The Telegraph

A new report by The Telegraph newspaper claims that the Nigerian government covered up another mass kidnapping by the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

The news report claims that 500 people were kidnapped by Boko Haram in Damasak, Borno State on November 24, 2014 and has accused the federal government of deliberately covering up the kidnap in the same manner it attempted to cover up the kidnap of the Chibok girls.

300 of the 500 kidnapped persons are believed to be children as the Human Rights Watch has put a spotlight on the incident and quotes an unidentified resident of Damasak as saying, “The government didn’t want the news out, “They went to the private school and Islamic seminaries and carted away children as young as five, They also went into town and forcibly seized children from their mothers, children too old to be breastfed. My 16 nephews were among the children kidnapped. They were aged between five and 16.”

200 people were also allegedly killed in initial attacks on Damasak by Boko Haram militants as the report now puts the onus on the Buhari administration to act.
