Countries Pledge Billions In Aid To Syria

Several countries have pledged billions of dollars at a conference in London to aid war torn Syria.

Despite the breakdown of peace talk in Geneva, over 30 heads of state in London pledged to raise $9bn as starvation is becoming Syria’s latest challenge.

The Syrian civil War has led to millions of refugees attempting to reach Europe via Turkey as hundreds die monthly attempting to cross the Mediterranean to reach Europe.

The European Union pledged $3.3bn while the United Kingdom pledged $1.7bn until 2020, Germany committed to $2.6bn until 2018, France said it would give $1bn and the US pledged an extra $925m for 2016.
