Facebook has announced that it will no longer allow private individuals advertise guns on it’s social network.
The ban will also take effect on its other social network and photo sharing site, Instagram.
President Obama’s Executive action had drawn attention to the fact that more companies needed to become more responsible and impose stricter checks on gun sales. Although Facebook is not a firearms trading company, thousands of people advertise and sell firearms to each other on the site.
The new ban does not affect businesses however as they will be allowed to continue advertising.
