DasukiGate: EFCC Official Arrested For Extortion
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said in a statement yesterday that one of its operatives has been arrested for offences relating to influence peddling, impersonation and extortion.
The operative, Abdulrahman Muhammed Biu, a deputy detective superintendent allegedly received $150,000 from some military chiefs under investigation.
The operative was said to have approached military chiefs under investigation for an arms purchase scam to promise them assistance in exchange for bribes.
The EFCC disclosed in its statement that Biu’s residence was searched and $20,000 cash, N500, 000 cash, two police uniforms bearing his name with the ranks of Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, Police warrant card No: 27/2014 with the rank of DSP allegedly obtained from Kano Constabulary office, documents relating to military arms investigation and account information of several were all found in his possession.
