China Halts Stock Trading As Share Prices Slump
Equity trading had been suspended in China following massive plunges in the first day of trading in 2016.
Chinese shares have struggled since the last quarter of 2015 with investor confidence waning and a serious concern for slowing growth levels.
The Shanghai Composite Index SHCOMP, fell 6.9% while the smaller Shenzhen Composite fell 8.2%.
A newly implemented circuit breaker system created in December 2015 halted trading after massive losses were recorded by blue chip companies.
