Senator Bala Ibn Na’alah, the sponsor of a controversial bill which has entered the second reading stage is facing an unprecedented recall.
The bill to “prohibit frivolous petitions” is seen in many quarters as a bid to gag social media and freedom of speech.
A civil Society group, Citizens United For Peace and Stability has begun a process to recall the Senator from the Senate.
They have reportedly collected over 30,000 signatures which, once verified will trigger a reelection in 90 days.
