Violence Continues In Burundi
Despite a UN resolution last week Thursday condemning the violence, the scale of violence has escalated in Bujumbura.
Reports indicate that four people were killed in Bujumbura, the Burundi capital today. There were reports of explosions and gunshots as a Police post was attacked.
There has been unrest in Burundi since Pierre Nkurunziza ran for a third term and won despite constitutional restrictions. The government announced that citizens in possession of arms should surrender them with a Saturday deadline.
The government’s hard line stance has put Burundi on edge with many fearing a civil war might ensue.
194 people have been reportedly killed since April as Nkunrunziza’s government allegedly tries to silence the opposition.
