Putin Orders Investigation Into Russia Doping Scandal

Following a report by the World Anti Doping Agency Independent commission claiming that Russian athletes had created a system of doping that sabotaged the 2012 Olympic games, Russian President has ordered an investigation.

The Wada Commission recommended Russia’s suspension from the 2016 Olympic games after revealing that Russian officials had destroyed key samples and falsified drug test reports.

Vladmir Putin has called for cooperation and openness in Russia’s dealings with anti doping agencies as he conceded that “A sporting contest is only interesting when it is honest.”

“It is essential that we conduct our own internal investigation and – I want to underline – provide the most open professional co-operation with international anti-doping structures.” Putin said.
