Speaking at the commissioning of the new renovated site, Mr Kudzai Danha, MD SAP West Africa said “It is very important to SAP to respond to the need of the community in which we operate. Our office is very close to the school and we decided upon this location part of SAP’s global Month Of Service initiative which is all about us giving back to the community.”

Mr Danha further disclosed that SAP has been involved in upgrading of the standard of education in the state for years and that the topic of skills development is a key pillar of SAP’s strategy for West Africa.

“We have a school at Ikeja that we been working with for years now; we also support the training of children to learn about technology. Recently, we spearheaded Africa Code Week across 17 countries in Africa where we taught over 80 000 children basic software programming. Other facets of SAP’s involvement with skills development with a view to job creation are the SAP Skills for Africa initiative and the SAP University Alliances programme. SAP’s goal is to play a part in contributing towards helping ready Africa’s talented youth for the competitive marketplace of the future and IT skills are a prerequisite.”

In his remarks, Mr T.A Rufai, the Head teacher of Victoria Island Primary School, thanked SAP for the enormous impact in improving the standard of education in Lagos state and urged other corporate organizations to emulate SAP in adding values to the education sector in the state.

“SAP West Africa did very well in impacting  the less privileged students in Lagos State and I commend them for their job. The teachers and parents of Victoria Island primary school truly appreciate the effort of SAP. I advise other NGO’s in the state to come to the aid of the state government and improve the standard of learning in the community, especially amongst the less privileged children,” he concluded

As part of this effort during the month of October, SAP Nigeria also distributed educational materials and sportswear to Awoyaye Primary School and Federal Housing Primary School.
