A United States Air strike targeting Afghanistan led to the death of 22 civilians and injured 37 others.

The US has admitted that its attack on a hospital in the province of Kudunz was an error. The hospital was run by the Doctors Without Borders.

The medical charity Medicines Sans Frontier has called for an international independent probe into the attack which it deems a war crime.

President Obama called the Afghan President, Ashraf Ghani as well as the head of the MSF Joanne Liu to apologize for the air strike.
