300 Feared Dead Trying To Cross The Mediterranean Sea To Italy
As many as 300 people are feared dead as they attempted to cross the Mediterranean sea from Libya in an attempt to reach Italy.
According to survivors, the crossing was attempted with the aid of dinghies with some dinghies carrying as many as 100 passengers.
Although 29 people have reportedly been rescued, almost 300 people are feared dead even with fresh fears that many of the casualties are from West Africa, some of whom first made the crossing from their countries of origin to Libya on foot.
This tragedy reminds the world of the huge risk faced by many Africans in developing countries as they seek to depart their countries for hopes of greener pastures- regardless of the cost and risks associated.
