The Hunger Games actor landed the final lead role as ‘Danny Dyson’ in the movie ‘Terminator Genesis’.
Both Dayo Okeniyi and Attack the Block’s John Boyega were apparently the top choices to play Danny but the role went to Okeniyi, who was also wanted in one of the lead roles for JJ Abrams’s Star Wars movie.
Dyson is described as a “Steve Jobs genius” who is a crucial part of the conclusion of the film. He is the son of Miles Dyson, the brain behind Skynet, who was played by Joe Morton in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Scheduled for a 2015 release, Terminator: Genesis already stars Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke as John Clarke and JK Simmons.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will return as the Terminator.
Okeniyi played Thresh in The Hunger Games and starred in The Spectacular Now. He also appeared in Endless Love last month with Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde.
