AMSTEL MALTA STRENGTHENS ITS SUPPORT FOR NOLLYWOOD

Amstel Malta has reiterated its support for Nigeria’s movie industry with the sponsorship of the second edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCAs), which took place on the 8th of March 2014 at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Victoria Island Lagos.

 The no 1 premium low sugar malt brand, which also sponsored the AMVCAs first edition last year, has continued to show endearing commitment to the growth and development of the Nigerian entertainment industry through different partnerships and initiatives such as the AMVCAs, Williams Sisters Lagos Tour, Amstel Malta Showtime amongst others.

 According to Amstel Malta Brand Manager, Hannatu Ageni-Yusuf “Amstel Malta has always been dedicated to promoting the best and this we will keep doing to ensure that the youths, especially, are well motivated to be the best they can be. We are aware of the many challenges the country is facing at the moment and we will keep doing our part to make a change”, she stressed.

The brand, which was one of the pioneers of movie reality shows in Nigeria with the introduction of the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) in 2005, also officially launched its new brand campaign, themed around Journey to Success, with the unveil of its new TV commercial and announcement of Nollywood star, Genevieve Nnaji and Chelsea mid-fielder, Mikel Obi as brand ambassadors, at the just concluded AMVCAs.

According to Genevieve, being a part of the campaign is a step in the right direction. “I’m very glad to be a part of this campaign. It’s a big step in the right direction because our youths really need all the motivation they can get. Nothing good comes easy, so we all have to keep pushing on as we journey to success”.

Mikel Obi also emphasized the importance of the campaign and how he hopes to inspire young Nigerians through the platform. “Amstel Malta is playing a major role in inspiring the youths and I’m glad to be a part of such initiative. The journey to success is never that easy and one might easily get discouraged but I encourage young Nigerians to stay true to their dreams and not be defeated”, he said.

According to the Marketing Director Nigerian Breweries, Mr Walter Drenth, the campaign is targeted at young Nigerians and will serve, as a tool to drive the brand’s message: “Be the Best you can be”.

He also emphasized the company’s position and enthusiasm over the new campaign. “As a brand, we are very happy to launch this campaign at such a time as this. Our major goal is to inspire the Nigerian youth to be the best in all areas and we strongly believe that all our efforts will yield maximum results, as we will not settle for less in achieving our set goals”, he stated.
