Mother Arrested For ‘Attempting To Sell Her Kids on Facebook’
A 22-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sell her two children on Facebook.
Misty VanHorn faces charges of child trafficking after authorities in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, were alerted to the social network sale.
Police said she was attempting to sell the young children in a bid to raise the money needed to bail her boyfriend out of jail.
She allegedly offered to sell an online buyer her two-year-old for $1,000 (£670) or the toddler and her ten-month-old baby for a combined $4,000 (£2,680).
‘Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all of her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1,000,’ she allegedly wrote via Facebook.
Neighbours claim Ms VanHorn had been going door to door in the local neighbourhood asking for donations as she attempted to raise her partner’s $1,000 bail bond.
However, she was arrested when a potential buyer in neighbouring Arkansas notified authorities last week.
Police investigating confirmed the suspect is being held on $40,000 (£26,800) bail while her children have been taken into custody.
