28 Days of Blissful Beauty: Day 13 – Of Scented Candles and Romance

I recently discovered and completely fallen in love with scented candles. I love fragrances and perfumes but scented candles blow my mind.

When scents are inhaled, messages are sent to the brain. Some scents trigger old memories and feelings. Others prompt chemicals to be released that cause emotions and desires to surface. The effects can include relaxation, lowered inhibitions, heightened sensitivity, and feelings of euphoria.

Smells can bring back fond memories and romantic feelings. The smell of an ocean breeze could remind you of your honeymoon, maybe the smell of your boo on your pillow or the scent of him on the T-shirt he left at your house makes you go wild.

Men love the smell of women’s everyday products like splashes and lotions. Women love the smell of men and their cologne.

Here are some basic scents:

Vanilla is a plant that can be eaten, drunk, and smelled as an aphrodisiac. Naturally warming and soothing; relaxing and comforting; thoughts of favourite foods and happy memories of home and childhood

Lavender has been associated with sensuality throughout history. Cleopatra used lavender to seduce Julius Caesar. In today’s world, it is customary to put lavender under the pillow of newlyweds to encourage passion.

Jasmine, especially when combined with rose scent, is very alluring.

Frankincense can be used to calm nerves.

Romantic ways you can use scents:

*Use scented body oils, lotions, and hair products. To create your own, add a couple of drops of essential oils to the lotion of your choice.

*Give your love a sensual massage using scented massage oil (or add essential oils to your existing massage oil or lotion).

*Use essential oils as perfume, putting them on your neck, forearms, wrists, cleavage and behind the knees.

*Light scented candles or drop oils on light bulbs to fill the air with sensual scents.

*Combine scents and ways of using them. For example, while making dinner, light lavender candles, and wear a vanilla scent as perfume.

*For relaxation, use a scented candle when you are alone taking a candlelight bubble bath. Write a poem or story, and read a book while using concentration fragrances.

Bring the passion in your relationship to a new level by introducing scents that evoke sensual feelings.

However, one of the best reasons to buy scented candles is the benefits due to their aromatherapy properties. Aromatherapy is an alternative approach for helping the mind, body, and spirit through the use of essential oils and fragrances to create an atmosphere and stimulate the senses. Science and research has shown that many moods and negative emotions can be lifted due to the fragrances or scents that are introduced into the environment.

Humans are naturally drawn to things that smell good and make us feel good. So go ahead, buy yourself a dozen scented candles.
