While most would agree that sex is a vital part of any strong, passionate relationship (and some of us don’t). The reality is not all men and women are always in the mood.
If you’ve been together for years, chances are the sex has either become routine or isn’t the focal point of the relationship anymore especially if children are in the picture.
While the days of tearing each other’s clothes off and swinging from the chandeliers might be over (okay, maybe hanging from light fixtures is a bit much but you get the point), don’t put sex on the back burner completely.
Sex has its benefits, so even if you have to schedule it in.

While you may not burn as many calories as a spin class, swimming or a personal training session, 30 minutes of sex can burn up to 85 calories or more depending on how into it you get. And if you tend to have sex for longer than 30 minutes and have sex as much as five times a week, those calories can add up! If you put in work, sex may be all the exercise you need
2. It helps reduce stress
Nothing can take the stress out of grueling day like getting your back cracked. Other studies show that people who had intercourse regularly responded better to stressful situations than those who didn’t have sex often or who abstained. Regular sexual activity has also been shown to improve a person’s blood pressure. So next time your boss is trippin’ or you experience road rage on the way home, jump your man’s bones so you can take it all out on him!
3. Pain Reliever
Have sore muscles from working out or a headache? Sex also prompts production of estrogen, which reduces the pain of PMS. Try it before you reach for the over-the-counter stuff – unless you have a migraine or your man is out of town. But if he’s around, ask him to help take your pain away!
4. Better sleep helps you releax
Can’t sleep? Have sex! A good lay can serve an insomniac well. While sex can be invigorating, the same oxytocin that can reduce pain is also known to promote sleep. This shouldn’t be surprising considering most men will be fully awake before and during sex, but rocked out less than 5 minutes after climaxing. Same could be true for you. Even if sex doesn’t put you right to sleep, it can at least calm you down and relax you to prepare for a better night’s rest.
5. Boost Sex Immunity
Having sex once or twice a week has been linked with higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A, or IgA, which can protect you from getting colds and other infections. Vitamin C is cool, but sex is even better!

Because sex reduces stress, boosts immunity and lowers cortisol levels in the bloodstream, sex also slows down the aging process. So if you want to find the fountain of youth in a fun, passionate way, get busy with your partner at least twice a week and live longer.
9. It builds intimacy
Perhaps the best reason to have sex with your partner regularly is to stay connected. With the pressures of work, children and other day-to-day responsibilities that can stress you out and disconnect you from your partner, having sex is a great way to bring you back to each other and keep the intimacy going. Oxytocin is also called the “love hormone,” which helps people bond. Make time to cuddle up with each other and keep the passion in your partnership hot.
