As iPhone users are still digesting the amazing features of the new iPhone 8 and iPhone X, Apple takes the experience much further by releasing a new update for its operating system – iOS 11.
The new update is available to iPhone and iPad users and entails a lot of cool new features like augmented reality, a new voice for Siri and some cool filters, whistles and bells in the camera app.
Although the new features comes pre installed in the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. it can however be upgraded in to your old iPhone, giving it that cool new feel. Here’s how to do upgrade the iOS 11 into your old iPhone.
STEP ONE: BACK UP YOUR PHONE
The first thing you’ll need to do before upgrading to the new iOS 11 is to back up your files. You can simply upload your data to iCloud or back up with iTunes, which will save all your basic data, including your apps and login details. Connect your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes, select your device, and choose the Back Up Now option under Manual Back Up and Restore.
STEP TWO: CHARGE UP YOUR PHONE
You need to remember that the upgrade process takes time and you won’t want your phone’s battery getting low during the upgrade so ensure that the phone is fully charged or currently charging.
STEP THREE: FREE UP SOME SPACE
The OS will need about 2GB of free space to fully download so create space on your device, delete photos, music or videos or get rid of apps you no longer need or frequently use.
STEP FOUR: UPGRADE. UPGRADE.. UPGRADE…
After following all these steps, you should get a notification once the IOS 11 is available but to those who can’t wait, go to the General tab in the settings app and select Software Update to start the download.
