Jamie Vardy accused of instigating Ranieri’s sack
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has revealed he got death threats after former club manager Claudio Ranieri was sacked. This he said is due to false claims that he played a role in the club’s decision to dismiss Ranieri.
The former coach led the club to an historic premier league title win in 2016. He also brought them back up to top flight football after a decade away from premiership.
Vardy has however debunk the accusation.
“The story is out there, then people pick it up and jump on it and you are getting death threats about your family, kids, everything. The threats were on social media, walking down the street, you name it.”- Vardy said.
“I try to get on with it but when people are trying to cut your missus up while she is driving along with the kids in the back of the car it is not the best. It has happened plenty of times. It is terrifying.”
“The stories were quite hurtful. A lot of false accusations were being thrown out there and there is nothing us, as players, could do about it,” he added.
