She passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
The Arts And Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa conveyed his condolences to Klaasen’s family on Twitter.
Mthethwa said Klaasen would be remembered for her indomitable spirit and as a person who succeeded against all odds. Klaasen suffered a stroke in December.
