Beyonce is a singer, dancer, superstar, wife, sister and a daughter but after tuning into her documentary last night it’s clear being a mother is the most important and defining role to the diva.

Bey took us on a journey through her life, unveiling performances, intimate moments showing her love for her husband Jay-Z, the struggles of taking over the job of being her own manager, and her healing process after suffering from a miscarriage two years ago.

In one particularly touching scene, Bey gives a toast at her hubby’s birthday party in 2006, and says:

“He taught me how to be a woman. He taught me how to live…I thank God for you everyday.”

And in another emotional moment reflecting on her miscarriage, she says:

“I picked out names. I envisioned what my child would look like… Literally the week before, I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat… It was the saddest thing I’ve ever been through”

The doc shows how the superstar balances it all, fame, motherhood and marriage and it’s Blue Ivy’s appearance that really showed us a different side of the 31-year-old.

In her Oprah’s Next Chapter segment, Beyonce said she didn’t release the documentary, which she had in the making for three years, because it didn’t feel complete, and now she has found that her daughter was the missing link all along.

In the documentary you can see Bey with her most precious jewel, Blue Ivy and on giving birth to her, she says:

“It was the most beautiful experience in my life,”
