The democratic and republican presidential candidates had a lot riding on the New York Primaries. With 291 delegates at stake for the democrats, it was Sanders’ most realistic chance of closing the gap between Hillary Clinton and himself.

The biggest disappointment in Tuesday’s primaries was for the Republican establishment as businessman and brash talker, Donald Trump won by a large margin with almost all of the votes counted. John Kasich came in a distant second as Ted Cruz was left trailing in third.
Tuesday’s win means Trump takes a step closer to winning the Republican nomination dealing a big blow to Cruz’s hopes.
Despite the recent momentum of Vermont Senator, Bernie Sanders, former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton swept the New York Primaries comfortably with 57% of the votes counted so far. An excited Hillary Clinton told her cheering supporters, “Tonight the race for Democratic nomination is in the home stretch, and victory is in sight,”
