Mr. Rickey Tarfa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) currently facing charges of obstruction of justice brought against him by the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) has filed a charge of his own. EFCC, its Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, Mrs. Rashidatou Abdou and Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) are all listed as respondents.
His first fundamental rights enforcement suit was filed against the EFCC and he has now filed a fresh suit against telecommunications company, MTN, for an alleged violation of his right to privacy.
In an ongoing EFCC case against him, the commission released details of his communication with a court judge as well as records of his calls in a bid to prove that Rickey Tarfa habitually communicates with trial judges.
Tarfa’s suit is based on his contention that his phone records were accessed without a court order and asked the court to order the respondents to pay him a compensation of N5 billion.
