A while ago, a friend and I went to the mall to shop for cosmetics- creams, moisturizers etc. Almost every item on the shelf had ‘whitening’ written on it. From whitening body creams to whitening facial cleansers to even whitening body wash. It took a while to find something that wasn’t ‘whitening’ and was appropriate for our skin.
Genes play a vital role in your total appearance, but taking care of your skin at an early age would surely be paid off when you hit your thirties and beyond. And because of that it will give you the edge in terms of texture, lines, and spots.
Creams generally contain more nourishing moisturizers like Shea butter, cocoa butter and petrolatum. Different skin types require different creams and here are some pointers to remember when looking for the best cream that suits your needs.
People with dry skin like mine may prefer cream which has a thicker, more emollient base that softens and moisturizes while, individuals with oily skin may prefer a lightweight moisturizer that contains glycerin and silicone. Specialist say those with sensitive skin should avoid irritating ingredients like fragrance and menthol and instead look for products that contain more soothing, anti-inflammatory ingredients such as aloe and chamomile extract.
Cosmetics are a necessity for all women, what differs is in the way they use and apply it. However, be sure not to use cheap cosmetics that may damage your skin in the long run. Also note that just because it’s expensive doesn’t mean it’s good for your skin. If you must, get expert advice before purchasing.
