MAC Cosmetics Expands to Africa, Opens First Store in Nigeria

MAC continues to lead its competitors in global domination by expanding in Africa. The Estee Lauder, Inc. owned company just announced plans to expand throughout the continent with a three year strategy. According to WWD, the make-up giant recently opened a storefront in Lagos, Nigeria and plans two more openings in Zambia and Botswana by years end.

“MAC has always been a trailblazer in emerging markets—India, Brazil and Turkey, for example,” Karen Buglisi the global brand president for MAC Cosmetics told the trade publication. “We believe that the breadth of our product line, particularly in foundation shades, and our pricing will appeal to the Nigerian market, as well other African markets.”

According to their release, Part of their strategy also includes hiring a resident trainer and senior make-up artist in each location which guarantees impeccable service and five star ratings amongst customers. “We want customers to be able to go to any market in the world and have a seamless service experience, and we will provide top-notch education to make this happen. We want to go in to Africa boldly and say, ‘We’re here.’,” Buglisi added.
