Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal has admitted that he has fallen short of expectations at the football club.
In what has been a difficult season for United, sloppy performances and a seeming inability to score goals has been the summary.
Saturday’s humbling loss at home to Southampton proved to be an additional nail in Van Gaal’s coffin. Speculation regarding his dismissal remain rife as the players and the coach were booed at their Old Trafford stadium on Saturday.
“I’m very disappointed that I cannot reach the expectations of the fans,” Van Gaal said. “They have – or they had – great expectations of me, and I cannot fulfil them, so I am very frustrated because of that.”
It is perhaps the most telling admission that Van Gaal might not see out the rest of the season as head coach.
