The British Academy Film Awards popularly referred to as BAFTA has released its nominations for 2016.
The Steven Spielberg directed movie “Bridge of Spies” led the nominations alongside “Carol” with 9 nominations each.
The drama “The Revenant” which starred Leonardo Do Caprio in a leading role was also nominated for movie of the year.
Star Wars, The Force Awakens also notched up four nominations for Best Sound, Production design, music and visual effects.
The animated movie “Inside Out” is nominated for Original Screenplay alongside Bridge of Spies, Ex Machina, the Hateful Eight and Spotlight.
The “Best actor” category is probably the most tightly contested category. Bryan Cranston – (Trumbo) Matt Damon (The Martian), Leonardo DiCaprio – (The Revenant), Michael Fassbender – (Steve Jobs), Eddie Redmayne – (The Danish Girl) are all in the running.
