This is another voting category for the best rap music that was released in the year under review and the nominees are, Vector’s King Kong, MI’s Bad Belle, Ill Bliss’ Bank Alert and Local Rappers by Reminisce featuring Olamide and Phyno
King kong – Vector: King Kong was so classic it was remixed twice, Vector proved doubters wrong by switching style from its hardcore rap to hardcore rap dancehall. At the sound of its beat everyone beats their chest. King Kong was adjudged by many as the best rap single outta of naija in 2015. It surely deserves its nomination.
Bad Belle – M I: Yes ‘Bad Belle’ is allowed, The Chocolate City Chairman’s star track in the Chairman’s album. A rap song full of wordplay and funny punch lines. Who wouldn’t consider such a track in this kind of category?
Bank Alert – Ill Bliss: Ill Bliss’s Bank Alert is a rap track of note that deserves a consideration in the category. He distinguished himself with his free flowing Igbo language.
Local Rappers – Reminisce featuring Olamide and Phyno: The controversial track that garnered responses from top rappers in the country a combination of Nigeria’s finest indigenous rap trio who were of the opinion that hardcore punchlines rap no longer make money. It also housed some funny words and abuses for the rappers that majors in using English language to deliver their lines.
Our Verdict:
Either King Kong or Local Rappers will be a deserved winner of this category with both getting wide acceptance in the eyes of music lovers across the country but we will go for local rappers because of its controversial nature.
