Pepsi Copa Lagos kicked off yesterday, Friday, 18th December 2015 at Eko Atlantic and the yearly international beach soccer tournament gave us three major delights on its first day – awesome display of beach soccer skills, fun and refreshing side attractions, plus super excited fans.
The Skills – The intense play between beach soccer teams from England, Nigeria, Lebanon, Cote D’ivore, FC Barcelona, and the Pepsi Football Academy, was truly something to see. The games were full of ball juggling, over-head kicks, twists, turns and jaw-dropping moves we rarely get to see in regular football games.
The Fans – Of course, nothing keeps the game going like an active and supportive audience. Lagos beach soccer fans were active and delighted by what they saw yesterday. Even though the Super Sand Eagles of Nigeria lost 3-6 to the Ivorians, who are defending champions, many fans still went home smiling after a jolly good day of fun on the beach.
The Fun – The sexy, talented cheerleaders plus the acrobatic stilt walker were a sight to behold, adding colour and carnival-like glamour to the event, making guests feel like they were on the beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The festive feeling was made complete with a supply of refreshing bottles of chilled drinks available at the Pepsi Lounge, marked by a giant inflatable ‘Long Throat’ bottle and served by beautiful ladies in beach shorts!
