British singer Adele’s new album ’25’ has sold a record 2.3 million copies in the United States in the first three days of its release, Nielsen Music said on Monday.
According to estimates, the 27-year-old songstress will break the first week sales record currently held by boy band ‘Nsync’s 2000 album ‘No Strings Attached,’ which opened with 2.4million copies.
Adele is also enjoying enormous success in her home country of the UK. According to figures released by the Official Charts Company, on Friday, the album registered one of the biggest first day sales totals ever in the UK with 300,000 by midnight.
The numbers put the track on course to be one of the biggest ever selling records – also reaching Number One in the iTunes chart in 106 countries.
