Tagged the “pope of the poor”, Pope Francis is expected to visit three African countries on a historic first visit to Africa.
Pope Francis visited some of South America’s poorest countries two months ago as he has shown a willingness to go to some of the world’s struggling regions.
He’s expected to receive a hero’s welcome in Kenya from where he will also proceed to Uganda and the Central African Republic.
He will undoubtedly speak on political instability in the region as well as extremism in African terror groups as a whole.
Religious tensions in the Central African Republic probably suggest that the Pope will have religious tolerance as one of the themes of his visit.
Uganda, with stringent laws against homosexuals will also welcome Pope Francis with gay activists also hoping that the Pope will preach a message of acceptance.
