The Presidential Candidate of the Cambiemos, Mauricio Macri has secured a historic victory in Argentina’s General elections.
He garnered enough votes to force a concession from the ruling party’s candidate, Daniel Scioli.
Macri’s victory has led to the ouster of the Peronist party for the first time in 12 years. Macri won the votes by 51.5% to Scioli’s 48.5%.
Macri has called his victory “the changing of an era”. Born to a wealthy family, Macri gained popularity after a successful tenure as President of Boca Juniors Football Club.
