President Alpha Condé is seeking reelection for a second five year term in Guinea.
The polls opened in Guinea today with some concern as the run up to the election has been plagued with accusations, counter accusations and some violence.
Conde insists that no leader has equalled his achievements in Guinea in the last fifty years and has adopted “knock out blow” as his campaign slogan.
Conde has seven major rivals, all of whom have insisted that regardless of the results of the election, they will contest it.
They cite irregularities with electoral lists as well as inadequate voting papers as their key reasons.
The results of the first round of election is expected to be out by Tuesday with Conde hoping to avoid a run off election.
