In a match memorable more for its controversy than any display of quality football, Arsenal ended their encounter at rhe weekend with 9 men and a loss against their rivals.
First, Arsenal center back Gabriel Paulista was booked by referee Mike Dean for stepping in to end a scuffle between Chelsea forward Diego Costa and Arsenal’s Lauren Kolscieny.
Barely a minute later, Paulista saw a second yellow and was sent off for after backing into Diego Costa.
Although speculations remain that Paulista kicked Costa, the incident was not captured on camera.
Arsenal immediately appealed the red card decision and the FA reached a decision to Rescind the decision and consequently take away a possible match Ban.
However, Gabriel Paulista will still face charges of improper conduct after protesting to Mike Dean after the sending off.
He is expected to reply the charge on Thursday and is therefore available for selection as Arsenal face Tottenham in the capital one cup.
