After an ex parte motion filed by the Senate President at a Federal High was stalled till Monday morning and the respondents put on notice, the trial of the Senate President began this morning.
He’s facing a 13 count charge of falsely declaring assets among other things and Prosecutor, MS Hassan contends that Saraki breached Section 2 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.
The Senate President did not show up to his trial this morning and the Prosecutor requested that Saraki be arrested and brought to proceedings within two hours.
Saraki’s counsel, Mahmud Magaji argued that the prosecutor has no locus standi and that only the Attorney General can bring such a case against the Senate President.
