The capital city of Bayelsa State, Yenagoa was a beehive of activities over this weekend as showbiz celebrities stormed the city for the 10th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) which kicked off at 9:34pm yesterday, 24th May 2014.
The brains behind the prestigious awards, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe announced she will be stepping aside as the President of AMAA. It was a moment to recognize the works of late Amaka Igwe, who according to Peace Anyiam-Osigwe “died while doing something great for Nigeria”.
It was indeed a night of celebration and entertainment as the best in the movie sector were honoured with awards while showbiz stars like Timi Dakolo, Bez, J Martins, Edge, Ketshe and comedians Buchi, Funny Bone performed. Asides celebrities, also in attendance were top government functionaries.
