Ugandans will go to the polls today to vote in the Presidential election which will see the incumbent President attempt to extend his thirty year rule.
President Yoweri Museveni was involved in the toppling of Milton Obote in 1985 and has held power since 1986. His 30 year rule has been made possible by constitutional changes scrapping tenure limits and a stifling of opposition.
Although veteran opposition leader Kizza Besigye and former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi are contesting the elections, 71 Museveni is widely expected to win.
