United States President, Barrack Obama, spoke at the United Nations 70th General Assembly session today and he dwelt at length on the situation in Syria.
Describing the Syrian leader, Al-Assad as a tyrant, Obama pronounced that Syria “cannot return to the pre-war status quo”. The war in Syria has raged since 2011, claiming an estimated 225,000 lives.
Obama berated the backers of Al-Assad and called for a “managed transition” to ease him out of office. The crisis in Syria has led to a much larger migration crisis in Europe with millions of Syrian refugees attempting to find their way to Europe no matter the cost.
President Obama stated that he would do anything to ensure the safety of America especially against ISIL. “I said it before, and I will say it again: There is no room for accommodating an apocalyptic death cult like ISIL.”
“We know that ISIL, which emerged out of chaos in Iraq and Syria, depends on perpetual war to survive,”
President Obama’s desire to end the Syrian crisis is so strong that he admitted a willingness to work with Russia and Iran.
