Sadness and sorrow took over the convocation venue of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife when the name of Bibilari Elebuibon was announced by the Dean of Faculty of Arts, Prof Gbemisola Adeoti, as the best graduating student in his department, Yoruba language department.
It was expected that he would grace the podium accompanied with cheers and applause from his colleagues, but instead, many of his colleagues went into ceaseless weeping and mourning.
Many of the guests attending the convocation ceremony were shocked at the incidence until the Public Relation Officer of the school, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, announced to the congregation the death of Bibilari Elebuibon, and asked for a minute silence for the soul of the deceased.
Bibilari Elebunibon died in an auto crash in July in Osogbo. He is the son of popular Ifa priest and scholar, Yemi Elebunibon, one of the respected advocate of Yoruba culture.
