Manchester City produced their best performance of the Champions League to ensure a 3-1 win away at Sevilla, becoming the forst English team to record a result there.
Despite injuries to talismanic striker Sergio Aguero and play maker David Silva, a front three of Sterling, Navas and Bony was sufficient to get the result in the bag and ensure qualification with two matches to go. Goals from Sterling, Fernandinho and Wilfried Bony cancelled out Sevilla’s only goal.
Despite enjoying the bulk of the possession, Sevilla found it near impossible to break down the City defence and were ruthlessly exposed by Sterling, Navas and Yaya Toure on the break.
Real Madrid also qualified for the next round with a slim 1-0 win over PSG. The highlight of the night was another clean sheet for Kaylor Navas, who remains unbeaten in the champions league so far.
Manchester United kept their qualification hopes alive with a 1-0 win over CSKA in a match that was notable for profligacy on both ends of the pitch.
