The Ogun State Police command has again intercepted a tanker laden with petrol stolen from a vandalised pipeline in Sagamu part of the state.
This is coming barely four days after a 33,000 litre truck laden with vandalised petrol was intercepted in Ogijo, Sagamu.
The Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known to journalists on Sunday and said operatives attached to Sagamu Division of the State also apprehended the suspects.
He said the police operatives who acted on a tip-off moved to the pipeline and caught one Elochukwu Byron while siphoning petrol into the truck. He said other suspects escaped.
Mr. Adejobi said the suspect and the exhibits will be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran Abeokuta, for further investigation.
“The suspect is assisting the police in its investigation to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang and reveal more information that will assist the police”, he stated.
He said the Commissioner of Police has asked all officers to ensure that pipelines and installations are adequately protected particularly during this fuel crises.
