Joke Silva, wife to the veteran actor, Olu Jacob, has just turned an educator. The mother and prolific movie maker, Joke has been officially appointed to head a Nollywood movie studio named Malete Film Village owned by Kwara State University.
A statement from the Vice – Chancellor of the Kwara State University says Joke Silva who is a seasoned actress and world – class film director, will be the face and image of the Malete film village for some time to come. The Malete Film Village is an independent venture established by the Kwara State University to produce films and also train film actors and other experts for Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry and for the entire African film industries. The Film Village will serve as a world class facility for all interested film – makers from all over the world.
Ms. Joke Silva attended the University of Lagos where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English and the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts, London where she obtained a diploma in Dramatic Arts, specialising in Acting. She won the 2008 AMAA Awards in 2008, and 2006, Rell Award. Best Actress, Afro Hollywood Award as contributions to the entertainment industry and NANTAP Award among others.
