It was a memorable day for the contestants of the Nigerian Idol competition as they performed at Taruwa, a popular monthly open mic event held in Lagos that has seen the likes of Bez, poet Chiedu Ifeozo, and producer Cobhams Asuquo grace its stage. Hosted by BB Olurin and Aderonke Adebanjo of Smooth FM, it was an engaging night of good music and plenty of fun.
The Idol hopefuls were divided into two groups: men and women, with the men performing first. The guys took the floor with their version of Lagbaja’s ‘Never Far Away’ and then they performed Iyanya’s ‘Kukere’ completely changing the atmoshpere. Next up were the ladies. They all looked particularly gorgeous and before they even started to perform, they were already winning over hearts in the packed room. Their first performance was Wande Coal’s ‘Ololufe’ then they sang Flavour’s ‘Oyinatumo’ much to the excitement of the crowd.
