Hello,
Here we are again doing some more recaps……!
Let’s talk about 2012 Top Artistes Collaboration.
Zaina and Wayne Wonder
Zaina made the big move from the United States back to Lagos for one main reason… to make music. Now we get to see (or hear) the results. She’s signed to Darey’s Soul Muzik imprint and these are her first singles under the platform. “Totally Yours” is an international collaboration which features Jamaican superstar Wayne Wonder of “No Letting Go” fame while “Lo Lo La” is more of the local sound.
Both tracks get the nod from me. “Totally Yours” could easily go on any Carribean Island playlist.
Vector and Mavado
Vector ho foked up with Jamaica’s Mavado while he was in the states to shoot the visualsor this fire single titled Born Leader. Vector delivered his lines with unusual energy and as usual spat some catchy moving lyrics. Mavado also laced us with solid 2nd verse and catchy hook.
Born Leader is Vector’s 3rd single off his Sophomore album titled The 2nd Coming
P-Square and Rick Ross
There was a massive collaboration from P-Square, Konvict Muzik and Universal Music Group affiliations this year. They had a video for “Beautiful Onyinye Remix” featuring the Maybach Music Group front-man, Rick Ross, with cameos from Akon and May D
Lynxx and Wizkid
After quite a long wait and massive accumulation of anticipation, the chic cameo-filled visuals for Lynxxx‘s club-banging “Fine Lady” single featuring Wizkid, is finally here.
Video was shot at Federal Palace Hotel and directed by Tom Robson.
Cameo Appearances from Jocelyn Dumas, Dr. SID, Waje, Sasha, Oreka Godis, Beverly Naya, Efe Tommy, Jumai Shaba, Efya, SDC, Nedu, Ms. Jaie, Basketmouth, Ikon, Blackmagic and Illrymz
D’Banj and Kanye West
US rapper and G.O.O.D Music boss Kanye West has released the video to the first single ‘Mercy‘ off the group’s compilation album titled ‘Cruel Summer‘.
The song which features 2 Chainz, Big Sean and Pusha-T shows the rappers dancing and rapping in a monochromatic parking garage. The video also features other G.O.O.D Music acts Kid Cudi, Teyana Taylor and a cameo from African pop star D’banj (jump to 2:53 and 5:03 time stamp ).
D’banj also features in Kanye’s upcoming movie ‘Cruel Summer‘ which will usher in the album scheduled to drop a few weeks from now
Naeto C and D’Banj
Naeto C is back with banger “Tony Montana Remix” featuring the Koko Master, D’Banj. And, with what Tee-Y Mix did to this production, speakers has been longing for this tune.
Iyanya and D’Banj
This is definitely one of this year’s hottest collaborations!
When MTN Project Fame West Africa season 1 winner – Iyanya, released Kukere in March 2012, it was no doubt that the song would quickly become a national anthem as it was a breath of fresh air from Iyanya, who had previously released other buzz worthy singles including Love Truly and I’m the One.
Now, the Kukere master has collaborated with the Koko Master himself – D’banj for the remix of this hit track. We are totally loving the track produced by D’Tunes with the two masters (Kukere master & Koko master) as it is definitely one all party goers will enjoy all day and all night.
Wizkid and Kardinal Offishall
New Music: Kardinal Offishall feat. Wizkid – Reppin’ For My City
On Konvict Muzik ensign, Canadian rapper, Kardinal Offishall‘s new joint, “Reppin’ For My City”, Wizkid jumps on the hook.
Wizkid is adding another international collaboration to his already impressive bio. This was recently made clear in a tweet from international rapper Kardinal Offishall.
The rapper let the cat out of the bag via Twitter ‘Yup. In studio wit @wizkidayo over at deez Konvict studios…ooowweeeee…sounding like Magic doa..shout out to T-Mah’.
Kardinal Offishall is signed to Akon’s Konvict Music with distribution under KON Live. Wizkid is also signed on Konvict Music (as well as EME).
Ice Prince and Gyptian Collaborate on ‘Magician’ Remix
Chocolate City Rapper, Ice Prince, recorded a remix to his ‘Magician’ single with Jamaican dancehall/Reggae Act, Gyptian.
The remix is out and it’s yet again another plus to Nigerian music as international collaborations are steadily becoming a norm.
‘Magician’ remix is pretty much a decent number. While it cannot be compared to the original cut which featured two excellent verses from J-Town upcoming acts Yung L and J Milla, Gyptian still adds a new style to the track, giving it that Jamaican feel.
To be continued……..!
