Designer Maki Osakwe (a.k.a. Maki Oh) continued to fly the African Flag high on the global fashion stage last night as she became the first African designer to be invited to The White House by the First Lady of The United States of America, Michelle Obama.
The Cocktail reception tagged ‘Celebration of Design’ saw Michelle Obama share the evening with her favourite designers in the World’s most powerful address.
In July 2013, while attending a youth event at the Sci-Bono Discovery Center in Johannesburg, South Africa, Michelle Obama wore a chiffon blouse from the Maki Oh Spring/summer 2013 collection.
Maki Oh’s powerful celebrity fans don’t stop with Mrs Obama, international stars such as Beyonce, Solange Knowles, Lelee Sobieski, Rihanna & Kerry Washington have all embraced the label.
