The battle to restore peace and security in Nigeria’s Northern region continues as a bomb blast in the Yobe state capital this morning claimed six lives.
Twin blasts at the Central and along the Gashua-Maiduguri bypass have left over 42 people injured. The explosive device was said to have been detonated by a female suicide bomber.
The Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the blast. Although no group has claimed responsibility for today’s blast, it bears the trademarks of the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram.
The Nigerian service chiefs have a three month deadline to bring an end to insurgency in the Northern region. Today’s attack comes two days after the convoy of the Chief Of Army Staff was attacked in Borno state.
