The insecurity and rampant attacks on the Northern region of Nigeria continued today as a bomb went off at a busy market in Gombe state. Twin explosions reportedly occured at about 5:30 p.m
The explosion reportedly took place at the “Sabon Layi” footwear market which was packed with shoppers preparing for tomorrow’s Muslim holiday. Although no official reports of casualties have been reported, there is unofficial confirmation that the casualties figures are very high.
Seven Northern governors today revealed after a meeting that they have resolved to fight terrorism to a standstill. At the time of writing this report, no group has taken responsibility for the attacks but the hit and run nature of the attack suggests that the Boko Haram sect is behind today’s attack.
