Since his first encounter with children living with cancer on his 11th birthday, young celebrity saxophonist TJ Emore had never looked back in creating awareness of the deadly disease. He’s been working with the Children Living with Cancer Foundation (CLWCF) to help spread the news of early detection in children
Recently, the artiste popularly known as TJ Sax took to the streets of Lekki to campaign for the noble cause. Themed ‘Go Gold, Go Bold’, the artiste led the crowd in a walkathon from Dowen College to other parts of the lush neighbourhood sharing fliers and others tips while a DJ provided courageous music. There were also security agents to control traffic and ensure safety.
Regarding the theme of the event, TJ Sax explained that children “that battle with cancer like gold go through the fire and we hope they come out refined like gold and not hurt.”
TJ Sax first gained prominence when he performed the National Anthem at a convocation ceremony. Since then, he has been trailblazing in his career, performing at A-list events within and outside the country, as well as performing with top musicians like 2Baba, and his mentor Yemi Sax. He released his first album in 2011.
The walkathon was largely sponsored by Cadbury Bournvita, Gum and Candy, L’amour Bottle Water Company as well as Helping hands International.
