Five airports in Indonesia have been closed as a report of volcanic eruptions. According to reports, Mount Raung in East Java has been streaming ash in the air for the past week and airport officials are concerned for the safety of flights.
The affected airports are Denpasar , the International Airport in Lombok, Selaparang Airport also in Lombok, Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi, East Java and Notohadinegoro Airport in Jember, East Java.
Indonesian Islands are a popular tourist destination and the closure of airports has put a severe dent on the plans of tourists and has also left several tourists stranded. It is hoped that the airports will be reopened by midnight today.
